Katie Lam has worked in senior roles in three different government departments, most recently as an adviser to the Home Secretary, helping oversee the government's work on policing, crime and national security. She previously worked in 10 Downing Street, including as Deputy Chief of Staff.
Katie spent the bulk of her career at Goldman Sachs, rising from intern to Vice President. She first trained and worked as an equity research analyst, and later led teams running various projects within the bank. She has built and run successful international teams with large remits and substantial budgets. She has also worked in the technology industry at Faculty AI, one of the UK’s fastest growing tech companies.
Katie is a Governor at Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children, where she chairs the Business Committee, and was a Trustee of the Ivors Academy Trust, the British songwriters' and composers' charity. She is also an award-winning lyricist and scriptwriter, whose work has been performed on West End stages and off-Broadway in New York.
Katie studied Classics at Trinity College, Cambridge. She joined the Party as a student, and was President of the Cambridge Union Society and Chairman of the Cambridge University Conservative Association.
In the general election held on 4th July 2024, Katie was successfully elected as the Member of Parliament for Weald of Kent, with a majority over Labour of 8422.
